The new HVDC interconnection linking Italy and Montenegro is under construction. Once it is operational, it will have a capacity of at least 1000 MW. The project calls for the construction of two new conversion stations in the municipalities of Cepagatti (PE), in Italy, and Kotor, in Montenegro.
The two AC/DC terminals in Cepagatti and Kotor will be linked by means of two poles of ±500 kVdc HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) cable, part underground and part submarine.
LEVER, in accordance with the End-User's high-demanding technical specifications (e.g. 150% overload capacity, naturally ventilated cabinet, 7” colour display, etc.), has supplied the emergency systems (rectifiers, inverters, UPS) for this important project, which plays a central role in the Italian National Electricity Transmission Grid Development Plan.
